Hi, this is Archie speaking:
It’s my job to show that anyone can make a scarecrow, and that people of all ages working together can create all sorts of characters, and have lots of fun in the process. So make sure you check out all the tips and information below on how to build a scarecrow.
Last year we had around 400 scarecrows in Bothwell that made everybody get together, share ideas, and laugh a lot; as well as raise lots of money for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. Hopefully there will be even more this year! So, if haven’t already done so; put your thinking caps on, and join in the fun by making a fabulous scarecrow.
If you would like your scarecrow to feature in the slideshow (which will be shown at the Chapterhouse and Evangelical Church) then please have it on display no later than Wednesday 30th August.
Don’t forget that once again this year we have SUPER SCARECROW STREET – see if your street can be a WINNER.
You’ll see even more of me this year; and I have a BIG SURPRISE for you. So look out for me, and when you see me, don’t forget to give me a smile and a wave. I really like that!
See you soon,
Make your Scarecrow and display it at the front of your home or business premises where it can be clearly seen by passers-by.
Display your scarecrow from late July, but at the latest by Wednesday 30th August.
Don’t forget to visit the library and add a sticker to the map of Bothwell in the corridor to let everyone know that your scarecrow is on display!
Straw and Stakes are available at a new location this year – 11 Laighlands Road Bothwell G71 8AJ.
(A donation of £1.50 per stake and £1.50 per bag of straw to our charity is suggested).
St. Andrews Hospice charity shop in Uddingston has been setting aside hats which would be great additions for any scarecrow. Shop opening hours are 10am – 3.45pm Monday to Saturday.
