The Award Winning South Lanarkshire Schools’ Big Band
This is a celebration of local musical talent; a concert bursting with accomplished young musicians!
The award winning South Lanarkshire Schools’ Big Band is comprised of 30 phenomenally talented musicians who receive tuition through South Lanarkshire Council’s Instrumental Music Service. This vibrant young ensemble is regularly in demand as a concert headline act. Past performances have included the Cash for Kids Ball, RSNO Children’s Classic Concert, South Lanarkshire Sports Award Ceremony and the Instrumental Music Service Annual Showcase, to name but a few. Under the expert guidance of musical director, Eliot Murray, the band will entertain its audience with a selection of traditional Big Band standards and swinging modern-day musical hits.
Prepare to be amazed at the musical standard of these young musicians, who are sure to ‘get your feet tapping’!
Jack Kane, saxophonist and vocalist
The Big Band will be joined on the evening by Jack Kane. Jack will perform a vibrant set as part of the concert.
Jack is a saxophonist and vocalist from Glasgow. As a student he first studied at Edinburgh Napier University where he gained his Bachelor Of Music Degree and then moved on to study at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester where he obtained his Master of Music certificate. Shortly after graduating he moved to Nice, France where he joined a successful band who performed a great variety of popular music. In this band he learned to improvise and gained an insight in to the kind of musician he wanted to be.
Now, living again in Glasgow, he has formed his own band, Cassien, a successful function band aiming to bring the highest quality entertainment to any event. As a musician, Jack’s goal is to understand his audience, whatever the event, because to know your audience is to know your goal.
