This is Bothwell Scarecrow Festival’s 7th year and it is now the biggest festival of its kind in Scotland.
Last year’s event was brilliant and once again this year we have a number of new events and activities, as well as some firmly established favourites.
It all begins with Sport Weekend, which includes the Football Tournament on Saturday 26th August, followed by a choice of the On Road Cycle Ride to Glasgow or Family Cycle Ride and the 5K & 10K Fun Run on Sunday 27th August.
Other highlights to look forward to this year include:
- Princess and the Pig’ by Folksy Theatre
- Story time with Janis Mackay
- Kids Disco
- Farmers Market
The events will once again be spread around various venues in the village with Bothwell Primary School being used as our main arena for the Saturday and Sunday activities. Don’t miss the ‘Indoor and Outdoor Fun activities’ on Saturday 2nd September including the Free Games Zone – old fashioned games (remember the ‘gird and cleek’ ?), the fun fair, Petting Zoo, Face painting, Arts and Crafts, Balloon modeling and much more!
The festive spirit provided by your Scarecrow creations is very important, so this year we are opening up the Super Scarecrow Street competition to A STREET, PART OF A STREET or any COMMUNITY GROUP that would like to enter. Find out what we are offering to encourage you to enter the Competition on our SUPER SCARECROW STREETpage. For help on how to build your own very special scarecrow visit our Build a Scarecrow page or come to one of our Scarecrow Building Workshops.
We’re hoping for sunshine but if it’s wet, the fun will continue indoors so be sure to come along. There is loads to do for everyone regardless of the weather.
For more details of all of the above, look under Events.
Look forward to seeing you all at the festival.
