This is Bothwell Scarecrow Festival’s 6th year and it is now the biggest festival of its kind in Scotland.
The festive spirit provided by your Scarecrow creations is very important, so this year we are opening up the Super Scarecrow Street competition to A STREET, PART OF A STREET or any COMMUNITY GROUP that would like to enter. Find out what we are offering to encourage you to enter the Competition on our SUPER SCARECROW STREET page. For help on how to build your own very special scarecrow visit our Build a Scarecrow page.
Last year’s event was brilliant and once again this year we have a number of new events and activities, as well as some firmly established favourites.
The events will once again be spread around various venues in the village with Bothwell Primary School being used as our main arena for the Saturday and Sunday activities. Don’t miss the ‘Indoor and Outdoor Fun activities’ on Saturday 10th Septemberincluding the Army climbing wall and assault course, old fashioned games (remember the ‘gird and cleek’ ?), Laserquest, the fun fair, Face painting, Magic with Franc Karpo, Taster sessions with Dance Inc, Jumping Clay & and much more!
On Sunday 11th September we have the Grand Scarecrow Parade followed by an afternoon of fun as the playground goes ‘down on the farm’ with ‘The Homecoming’, a fantastic Appalachian and blue grass band plus loads of other activities, including the brilliant Petting Zoo, Tunnocks teacake eating competition, dancers, races and much more.
We’re hoping for sunshine but if it’s wet, the fun will continue indoors so be sure to come along. There is loads to do for everyone regardless of the weather.
For more details of all of the above, look under Events.
PLEASE NOTE: All tickets bought at the Chapter House are on a CASH ONLY basis. As with the whole Festival it’s run by volunteers so please be patient which buying your tickets.
Look forward to seeing you all at the festival.
