Arrangements for this year’s Bothwell Scarecrow Festival are now in full flow – Archie can’t wait to see the wonderful creations that will once again adorn our streets in the weeks ahead.
Once again we have a number of new events and activities to keep all the family entertained, as well as some firmly established favourites.
A new highlight for kids will be the Glasgow Science Centre’s hands on Bodyworks exhibition. For the smaller ones we have Mess Around, Mini Scarecrow Building Day and Sam Scarecrow’s Adventures. For those who remember the good old days we have The Gathering.
The main Festival weekend will be from the 9th to the 13th of September, but to allow people to participate in as many activities as possible three of the sporting events have been moved to the preceding weekend.
As a result the Football Tournament will take place on Saturday 5th September at 12.30pm at The Appledore Pitches off Fallside Road.
The events will once again be spread around various venues in the village with Bothwell Primary School being used as our main arena for the Saturday and Sunday activities. Don’t miss the ‘Indoor and Outdoor Fun activities’ on Saturday 12th September including the Army climbing wall and assault course, old fashioned games (remember the ‘gird and cleek’ ?), Laserquest, the fun fair, Bodyworks exhibition, puppet show, Tickles the Clown, stalls, crafts, fire engine and much more.
On Sunday 13th September is our Grand Scarecrow Parade followed by an afternoon of fun as the playground goes ‘down on the farm’ with ‘The Homecoming’, a fantastic Appalachian and blue grass band plus loads of other activities, including the brilliant Petting Zoo, Tunnocks teacake eating competition, dancers, races and much more.
We’re hoping for sunshine but if it’s wet, the fun will continue indoors so be sure to come along. There is loads to do for everyone regardless of the weather.
For more details of all of the above, look under Events.
Look forward to seeing you all at the festival.
